Journal
In 1970 SECOL began publishing The Southern Linguist, a four-page newsletter. The Southern Linguist was edited by Sarita Schotta until 1975 when Reza Ordoubadian of Middle Tennessee State University assumed the editorship. In spring of 1976 the name was changed to the SECOL Bulletin. The first peer- reviewed, scholarly article, "The Structure of Linguistic Thought," by Robert Rodman, appeared in 1977, Volume I. The first issue of The SECOL Review appeared in 1982. In 2000, the journal became the Southern Journal of Linguistics (SJL). SJL will be listed in Blackwells' Linguistics Abstracts, an electronic and print abstracting journal that provides access to abstracts form nearly 400 linguistics journals published since 1985.
Individuals can purchase back issues of the journal for $10 each. The cost is $20 for libraries.
